We built Kya Khaoge to help you cook better — not to collect your data. In plain terms: we use your fridge photo only to generate recipes, we never sell your data, and you are always in control of what you share.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Kya Khaoge ("the App"), an AI-powered mobile application developed and operated by [Diptesh Massey], based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use the Kya Khaoge mobile application on Android devices. By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Policy.
If you do not agree with this Policy, please do not use the App.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
When you use Kya Khaoge, you may provide:
- Fridge photos — images you take or select from your gallery for ingredient scanning
- Language preference — Hindi or English, stored locally on your device
- Account information (if you register) — name, email address, and phone number
- Payment information (for premium subscriptions) — processed securely by Razorpay; we do not store card details
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
When you use the App, we may automatically collect:
- Device information — device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers
- Usage data — features used, scan frequency, session duration, and in-app navigation
- Crash reports — error logs to help us identify and fix bugs
- IP address — used only for security and abuse prevention
2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect
We explicitly do NOT collect:
- Your fridge photos are NOT stored on our servers — they are sent to the AI, processed, and immediately discarded
- We do NOT track your location
- We do NOT access your contacts, messages, or call logs
- We do NOT collect biometric data
- We do NOT sell your personal data to any third party, ever
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

4. Third-Party Services
Kya Khaoge uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

5. Data Storage & Security
We take the security of your data seriously and implement appropriate technical and organisational measures:
- Fridge photos are transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and are NOT stored on our servers after processing
- All API communications are routed through a secure Cloudflare Workers proxy — your data is never sent directly to third-party AI services from the app
- User account data is stored securely on Supabase servers with row-level security enabled
- Payment data is handled entirely by Razorpay and Stripe — we never see or store your card details.
While we implement strong security measures, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
6. Data Retention
We retain your data only for as long as necessary:
- Fridge Photos: Not retained — deleted immediately after AI processing
- Scan Count Data: Retained for 24 hours (auto-expires for daily limit reset)
- Account Data: Retained until you delete your account
- Payment Records: Retained for 7 years as required by Indian tax law
- Analytics Data: Anonymised — retained for up to 24 months
- Crash Logs: Retained for 90 days then automatically deleted
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
7.1 Rights for All Users
- Right to Access — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Right to Correction — request correction of inaccurate personal data
- Right to Deletion — request deletion of your account and associated data
- Right to Withdraw Consent — withdraw consent for data processing at any time
- Right to Data Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format
7.2 Rights for Indian Users (IT Act 2000 & DPDP Act 2023)
- Right to know the purpose of data collection.
- Right to nominate — nominate another person to exercise your rights in case of incapacity
7.3 Rights for US Users (CCPA)
- Right to know what personal information is collected about you
- Right to opt out of the sale of personal information (note: we do not sell data)
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

We will respond to all verified requests within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
Kya Khaoge is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete such information within 72 hours.

Kya Khaoge requests the following permissions on your Android device:

10. Cookies
The Kya Khaoge mobile app does not use cookies.
11. International Data Transfers
Your fridge photo and associated data may be processed on servers located outside India, including in the United States, where Anthropic and Cloudflare operate their infrastructure. These transfers are subject to appropriate safeguards including standard contractual clauses and compliance with applicable data protection laws.
By using Kya Khaoge, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the App or by email at least 7 days before the changes take effect. The updated policy will always be available within the App and at our privacy policy URL.
Your continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
